Us magazine reports that she has signed on and will also receive a raise
Vanessa Hudgens has inked a deal to return for “High School Musical 3,” according to Us Weekly.
A source told the magazine that Hudgens will get a “substantial increase” in pay for once again playing the role of Gabriella Montez.
“Vanessa is locked for the movie,” a “HSM3” source told the magazine. “She is very happy that the deal is done.”
Another source, close to the actress, said Hudgens will sign the contract “within the next week.”
Hudgens’ return to the popular Disney Channel movie series was put into question after photos of the actress in various compromising states appeared earlier this fall on the internet.
“I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust mean the world to me. I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends,” Hudgens said in a statement at the time.
Despite the scandal, Disney quickly told the Associated Press that Hudgens was still being sought for “HSM3.”
“Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment,” Disney Channel spokeswoman Patti McTeague said at the time. “We hope she’s learned a valuable lesson.”
Shooting on the next installment of “High School Musical” is expected to begin in January.
Ashley Tisdale, who plays Sharpay Evans, has also reportedly signed on to return, Us Weekly reported.
A representative for Disney, however, would not confirm the signing of the young actresses for “HSM3” was official.
“The cast is still in negotiations and we have no further comment,” the rep told Us.
